First Look at Power Rangers Movie Megazord!

written by Jason Marcano November 5, 2016

We’ve gotten looks at the characters of the upcoming Power Rangers movie. We’ve seen the teaser posters of their Zords.

If you want, you can even sign up for “The Roar.” “The Roar” is the fictional newsletter of Angel Grove High School. AGH, as we all know, is where the Power Rangers attend school when they aren’t fighting off Rita Repulsa and her baddies. Foes that often times require something more than human sized competition. Enter the Zords, Dinozords to be exact.

The Tyrannosaurs Rex, Triceratops, Pterodactyl, Saber-toothed Tiger, and the Mastodon, are 5 powerful mecha-beast à la Voltron. While basically ineffective on their own, when the five prehistoric beast combine they form what is know as the Megazord. The Megazord was a force to be reckoned with. When the Power Rangers unified, nothing Rita threw at them stood a chance.

Sure, the Megazord Power Rangers gave us back in 1993 wasn’t very menacing, but it got the job done. Fans of the original series no doubt tingled with excitement every time it was summoned. But in 2017, such a blocky, obvious toy won’t do. Honestly, while the nostalgia would be nice, this design would be laughed out of the box-office. So, naturally Bandai and director Dean Israelite wanted to go for a more modern look.

While we don’t quite yet get to see what the Megazord will look like in the final film, Bandai did give us an early peek at the toy based off the movie.

This new design for the Megazord fits with the tone we saw in the teaser released not that long ago. It looks more agile, deadlier in a way. The positions of the Zords that make up the Megazord have also been altered. Where in the original the Saber-Toothed Tiger Zord made up a leg, here it is the chest of the Megazord. I am curious to see what this thing looks like in the movie with all the CGI bells and whistles.

This is also one of the largest Megazord toys created by Bandai. With battle sounds, expandable wings, LED effects, and all 5 rangers, this is one massive collection.

Will you geeks be picking this behemoth of an action figure from the Power Rangers movie? Are you even interested in the reboot due March 24, 2017? Let us know what you think in the comments!
