The story is based on a female special ops cyborg, “the Major”, who leads a counter-cyberterrorist organization known as Section 9. The purpose of this unit is to stop the world’s most dangerous extremists and they are a force to be reckoned with. This unit will stop at nothing to take down even the most hardened cyber criminals.
Ruppert Sanders, best known for his work with Snow White and the Huntsmen, is directing this adaptation. Steven Paul and Avi Arad will be producing and the script is in the hands of Jonathan Herman.
The film is currently on location in New Zealand and the film is estimated to release in the United States March 31st of next year.
Other actors confirmed for this role are Pilou Asbaek (Lucy), Takeshi Kitano (Battle Royale), Michael Pitt (Boardwalk Empire), Juliette Binoche (Godzilla), and Kaori Mamoi (Memoirs of a Geisha).
