Season 3 of The Flash has picked up right where it left off at the end of Season 2. The show is still fun, action-packed, and great at making you feel all of the feelings. They’ve even managed to add some new heroes into the mix. Season 3 has been lacking one glaring thing though, classic rogues. The show-runners look to remedy that in next week’s episode, “The New Rogues”. We’ll see the return of Captain Cold, but we’re also getting our first look at my favorite rogue, Mirror Master.
The Arrowverse’s take on the classic rogue will definitely be interesting. While I’m not a huge fan of Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold, having him around as an anti-hero also adds an interesting dynamic to the show that’s been missing, the wild card. The show works better when there’s someone who has both good and bad intentions lurking around. In season 1 this was Dr. Wells/Reverse Flash, and last season it was Zoom/”Jay Garrick”. This type of character really seems to bring out the heart in the show that has turned it into a fan favorite.
Here is the CW’s official synopsis for the episode:
WENTWORTH MILLER RETURNS AS CAPTAIN COLD; MIRROR MASTER AND THE TOP BATTLE WITH THE FLASH — Barry (Grant Gustin) continues to train Jesse (guest star Violett Beane) and when a new metahuman, Mirror Master (guest star Grey Damon), appears on the scene he lets her tag along. Mirror Master has teamed up with his old partner, Top (guest star Ashley Rickards), and is looking for Snart (Wentworth Miller) to even a score. Jesse is quick to join the chase but defies one of Barry’s orders which results in disastrous consequences. Stefan Pleszczynski directed the episode written by Benjamin Raab & Deric A. Hughes.
The episode airs on 10/25/16 on the CW Network. It can also be watched for free on cwtv.com or the CW app.
