The preverbal treasure chest of gaming that is E3 keeps letting out bits of lovely, lovely gold.
The latest news is that we no longer need to play the Friday the 13th game from Nintendo and LJN. Gun Media is bringing us a brand new game featuring everyone’s favorite hockey masked slasher, Jason Voorhees.
The successfully Kickstarter funded game finally revealed gameplay footage at E3 today and showed players what they can do whenever playing as Jason and hunting down everyone to the approval of his mother’s haunting voiceover or running for your life from the madman as a counselor.
The footage also backed up the words of the developers who said they carefully crafted the world of the movie into the game. The people behind this game certainly took their time in making sure no little detail went unnoticed. It also has a look and feel that very much invokes the ’80s decade where the series began.
The brand new survival horror game has been long anticipated ever since its announcement and with all that was promised, how could it not be? Original Jason actor Kane Hodder performed the motion capture for the machete wielder, horror and special effects legend Tom Savini provided cinematography in addition to producing, and even original series composer Harry Manfredini provided the music. The iconic “Cha, cha, cha” music cue makes an appearance in the footage.
A lot of love has gone into this game and it shows in what has been previewed. No doubt this game will be a lot of fun to play with some friends around this Halloween.
Friday the 13th: The Game can be preordered on right now via its website and will be available for PlayStation 4, XBox One, and PC this October.
