Well, it looks like actress Gemma Atkinson won’t be taking on the role of Supergirl in the planned series. She was earlier reported to have auditioned for the role in the upcoming CBS show and had auditioned for Emmerdale as a backup, apparently Emmerdale offered the first contract. The 30-year-old actress has taken on the role of Carly Hope, the estranged daughter of Bob Hope in the British Soap Opera Emmerdale.
It’s a shame because she should have made a fantastic Supergirl.
The new Supergirl series will be based on the Supergirl film, which was released in 1984 and starred Helen Slater , Peter O’Toole and Faye Dunaway. The new series is being worked on by Arrow co-creator Greg Berlanti.
With the earlier exclusion of actress Claire Holt of Vampire Diaries that means that the role of Superman’s cousin, Kara, is still wide open.
