Stranger Things officially renewed by Netflix for a third season!
While most of us already assumed Stranger Things would return, it hasn’t been official until now. While we don’t have any details on when filming will begin or when the show will air, we are all anxiously awaiting. The series cast is all signed on for six seasons but renegotiations are going to be happening early next year. The huge success of the series, which won 5 Emmys and was nominated for another 13, will definitely bring the cast’s salary up from around $30k each to a six-figure number befitting of the success.
So when can we expect Season three?
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, show’s co-creator Matt Duffer, told them when he expected season three to come around again.
We can only write and produce the show so fast. They’re going to be almost a year older by the time we start shooting season three. It provides certain challenges. You can’t start right after season two ended. It forces you to do a time jump. But what I like is that it makes you evolve the show. It forces the show to evolve and change, because the kids are changing.
He went on to mention that the show will follow a similar path to the Harry Potter movies, coming back every year around the same time.
What’s going to happen in Season Three?
When we first came to Stranger Things in season one, Will disappears into the upside down and we meet Eleven. The entire season was a quest to find Will and get him back.
In season two, Will is plagued with flashbacks and visions of the upside down and Eleven is coming to grips with her abilities and trying, for the most part, to stay hidden. This season was many different stories all happening at once, less of a quest like the first season, but all the characters had different stories going on leading them all to the same place.
So we come to season three, everyone is out of the upside down, everyone is happy, finally moving forward with their lives. Yet we have a tease at the end of the Mindflayer waiting and watching. This leaves us knowing at the very least the Mindflayer is here to stay for a while. So what else should we expect? More Steve/Dustin bonding? Jonathan and Nancy staying together? Lucas and Max dealing with a relationship and possibly Max’s brother? Are Eleven and Mike going to find out they don’t really like dating each other? Or will we see Hopper and Joyce finally hook up? And what about the others? We’ve seen Eleven and Eight, there are at least nine others out there, somewhere. Whatever happens, let Will relax and have a normal adventure this time around, I think he’s gone through enough.
