The Greatest Royal Rumble Taking Place in Saudi Arabia

WWE - The Greatest Royal Rumble

You heard me! The greatest Royal Rumble match ever is going to happen now! In about a month.

It was announced via press release from WWE themselves that on Friday, April 27 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia at the King Abdullah Sports City, a 50-man Royal Rumble match will be held at a live event.

Holy hell!

2018 Men's Royal Rumble

Vince McMahon himself in the release said,

The Greatest Royal Rumble will be a spectacle of historic proportions. Our partnership with the Saudi General Sports Authority reflects a long-term commitment to present WWE’s world-class entertainment to a global audience on a grander scale than ever before.

The match and event itself is a huge part of the company’s 10-year deal with Vision 3030, a social and economic reform program in Saudi Arabia.

Now any wrestling fan worth their salt, no matter how passionate or cynical about the business will almost always get excited when the Royal Rumble comes around every January because of how fun and unpredictable the match can be. Traditionally the match contains 30 participants, but the 2011 edition saw a 40-man match and the recent edition even saw the first ever 30-woman match. But 50?! This sounds like pure madness.

Now right now there is no word whenever or not the match will be filmed or televised on WWE TV or on the Network since it is taking place at a live house show, so fingers crossed.

Several names for the match have been announced including 2018 men’s winner Shinsuke Nakamura, AJ Styles, John Cena, Triple H, Randy Orton, Braun Strowman, Roman Reigns, The New Day, and Bray Wyatt.

This match will truly be historic and my mind is running rampant with thinking about who else could show up. The Rumble is also known for those shock returns, debuts, and cameos as well so who knows.

What do you think of this news? Who do you hope is in the match? Do you think we’ll ever see that match? Let us know in the comments!
