Grim Fandango, a game I fondly remember playing as the grim reaper Manuel “Manny” Calavera years ago when I was young and single. This was long before Neverwinter Nights and EverQuest even hit the market. I remember spending hours playing this game and laughing at the antics
This was one of the first video games that took a step into using 3D graphics. Grim Fandango is a dark comedy created by LucasArts in 1998. You played “Manny” Calavera, the grim reaper travel agent, as he journeyed through the land of the dead in an attempt to reach the Ninth Underworld and help Mercedes “Meche” Colomar, a newly arrived soul arrive safely at her final destination.
This game has now been remastered and re-released for PC, PS4, and PS Vita. The remastering means that some of the graphics got a minor facelift and that a few of the controls have been tweaked, but the game itself is the same.
Background graphics are still old res and the game doesn’t stretch well to a 16:9 ratio as it was designed for the old 4:3. Even after 17 years it’s still a great game to play, and you get it here on STEAM.
