Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will have five post-credit scenes

written by Alex Lopez April 23, 2017

Ok folks, this is a bit of overkill. Director James Gunn confirmed last week that Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will have not one, but five post-credits scenes. That’s right, five. And with the typical length of post-credit scenes, we could be there for a while.

Screen Rant originally (now updated) reported that the movie would contain four post-credit scenes, which is still plenty. After the report, Gunn tweeted at Screen Rant to offer a correction. It looks like at least two of the scenes will tie into the future Marvel Universe films. It’s anyone’s guess as to what the other three could be. Perhaps we will get more dancing Baby Groot.  One can always hope, at least. Whatever is in those scenes, you can bet it’s something good. By the way, has anyone heard from Howard the Duck recently?

Post-credit scenes have become a staple in the Marvel Universe. Starting with Iron Man back in 2008, the post-credit scene helps set up things to come in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Up to this point, we have seen at most two scenes at the end of the movies. Five is a huge step up from the normal two. Of course, the endgame is upon us in the MCU. With Infinity War on the horizon, there are only a few movies left before the showdown with Thanos. Maybe this is Marvel’s way of setting the stage for the biggest showdown of all. Perhaps the two scenes that tie to the bigger universe will see Thanos retrieve a couple of the Infinity Stones. Until now, Thanos has been unsuccessful in obtaining even one stone. This would be the best time for Thanos to really make his mark.

We are less than two weeks away from the release of Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Excitement is ramping up and with news of five post-credit scenes, the excitement is even bigger. Whatever Marvel is building up, we will all be able to see it starting May 5th, 2017.

What do you think, geeks? What do you think the post-credit scenes contain? Sound off in the comments.
