Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Will Be Without a Nathan Fillion Cameo

written by Jordan Cobb April 24, 2017

It was a given that Nathan Fillion would make a cameo in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 given his friendship with writer/director James Gunn. That and he’s appeared in several of Gunn’s projects, including a voice cameo from the previous film.

Well it was announced that indeed we’d get a brief glimpse of the Firefly star in the upcoming sequel, but it looks like we’re gonna have to wait and see if we’re ever going see it at all.

Fillion announced over his Instagram that he did indeed film a cameo for Guardians, but it has since been cut from the final film.

From a scene you won't see in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. Is the movie still spectacular without it? Yes.

Well that’s a strange way to see him isn’t it? Well its not since Gunn himself confirmed what many fans had believed, he was playing Simon Williams AKA Wonder Man, a member of the Avengers that is powered by ionic energy that allows him a number of powers. He once left The Avengers and went out to Hollywood to become an actor and stuntman. Though he was of course drawn back to the superhero life later on and was a founding member of the West Coast Avengers.

Fillion would have appeared mainly via posters, most likely a movie star back from when Star-Lord resided on Earth. Gunn said that fans would have to wait and see if we’d ever see the cut scene. Let’s start hoping for that Blu-Ray release.

Are you upset to see the cameo get cut? How excited are you for the movie? Let us know in the comments below!
