Peter “Starlord” Quill, main bad-ass and equipped with some sweet dance moves, was revealed at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy to have an alien twist hiding within his DNA. So what does that mean for the upcoming sequel?
Filmmaker James Gunn made a slip of the lip when fans asked during a Q&A whether or not Deadpool would or would not make a cameo in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Gunn mentioned that the merc with a mouth’s cameo would be “impossible” due to FOX holding the rights to the character’s movie “… and also there are no humans in Guardians Volume 2, basically. No main charcters …” and that’s where he trailed off when he realised what he had possibly revealed.
“For the record, I meant to say no PRIMARY human characters besides Peter Quill. Despite his mysterious heritage, I think of him as human.”
It will be interesting to see the cinematic take on Quill and the rest of the characters returning to Volume 2. Kurt Russell joined the cast and was perceived to have a dominant role in the upcoming film. Given Gunn’s statement about no primary human characters, it remains to be seen who Russell will be playing.
The anticipation is building for the second film following the wild success of its predecessor: Guardians of the Galaxy. The film is slated for a May 5th, 2017 release with Gunn and the original cast in tote.
