Details on Halo 5’s next free expansion have been revealed on HaloWaypoint. Contained within the blog post game developers 343 Industries outlined the upcoming DLC including new REQs and bug fixes. There is no solid release date, as of yet, but a May release is slated.
One of the most notable changes is with the matchmaking parameters. Players will have three options while setting up their matchmaking searches. These are as follows from 343.
- Balanced: search for a match based on your fireteam’s skill and network connection quality. (This is the current default setting)
- Expanded: widen search parameters to find the first available match with reasonable skill matching and network connection quality.
- Focused: narrow search to find the best match based on your fireteam’s skill and connection. Search times may be longer than normal.
Another change that Memories of Reach will bring is the post game screen. After a match ends you will now be able to view all of the rewards you earned within the match and up to three Legendary or Rare medals you’ve acquired. Medals come in the same way as REQs and you will be able to view all other players’ top medals. You’ll be able to track your most deadly tool of destruction, who you killed the most, who killed you the most, as well as view other players’ match recap.
343 wanted to make sure they fixed some bugs and made some adjustments to player movement.
For Memories of Reach, we’ve fixed a bug where Spartan Charge would not properly target enemies at the edges of a red reticle on the horizontal plane (you can still get red reticle and miss vertically). Fear not, though – players who skillfully evade a Spartan-Charging player with Thrust will still escape without taking damage. Additionally, Spartan Charge with Speed Boost will no longer be a one-hit kill, and Spartan Charge with the Gravity Hammer will no longer be a one-hit kill.
The last item is a slight increase to movement speed while crouching. This has been increased to allow for crouching to be a more viable choice for players to flank and attack. The speed isn’t drastic, but after months of testing we’ve found it to be the sweet spot.
With the new expansion comes new Requisitions and 343 has released an image detailing some of the new goodies to look forward to.
Where does he get those wonderful toys? Along with the Infection game type we get a new arena. The new arena, Stasis will be revealed and showcased on an upcoming live stream that you can follow here on Wednesday, May 11 at 3PM PST.
