Han Solo Standalone Film to Begin Filming in February 2017

Pretty much nearly everyone remembers Han Solo from the moment he first appeared in the original Star Wars film and he’s hard to forget. His attitude, the braggart confidence, that smile from Harrison Ford, and of course, the Millennium Falcon all made Solo instantly memorable.

Well we will get plenty more of Han Solo soon since his standalone film in the Star Wars franchise is set to be the next anthology film after this weekend’s Rogue One and also Disney really does want to put out a Star Wars film every year it seems. President of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy has revealed when cameras are set to start rolling on the project about the scruffy-looking Nerf-herder, saying to BBC journalist Lizo Mzimba, “We’re actually very close, we’re going to start shooting in February.” She even added that we should expect some details about Episode VIII come this spring. Christmas has really come early for fans!

Set for a 2018 release and focusing on some of the earlier adventures of the smuggler, the movie already has plenty of power behind it from Phil Lord and Chris Miller of The LEGO Movie (21 and 22 Jump Street and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs as well) helming a script from original trilogy and The Force Awakens writer, Lawrence Kasdan and son, Jon. Alden Ehrenreich will be in the lead role this time around as Solo and be joined by Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian with Game of ThronesEmilia Clarke in an as of yet unidentified role. Chewbacca of course will be along for the ride as well since you really can’t have Han without Chewy can you?

How excited are you for the Han Solo standalone film? Who else from that deep and massive lore of Star Wars do you hope appears in the film? Let us know in the comments below!
