Harry Potter: Wizards Unite made by Pokémon Go creators Niantic Labs have teamed up with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and WB Games to bring J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World to life.

Niantic Labs CEO John Hanke announced the game in a blog on the Niantic Labs website towards the end of 2017 and we are all excited!

We’re incredibly excited to announce this next step in the evolution of AR mobile entertainment. With Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, players that have been dreaming of becoming real life. Wizards will finally get the chance to experience J.K.Rowling’s Wizarding World. Players will learn spells, explore their real world neighbourhoods …

During an interview with Financial Times John Hanke assured fans that the release of Wizards Unite with being smoother than the Pokémon Go release was in 2016.

Pokémon Go became more popular after the introduction of Trainer Battles and adding more Pokémon to the mix. Gone are the days where every other Wild Pokemon is a Pidgy or Rattata, now we can see the super cute Zigzagoon and Minun.

Full details about the game are scarce, Niantic Labs seem to be playing their cards close to their chests. What we can tell from this announcement is that like Pokémon Go, players can capture creatures and defend territories. Let’s hope we will see some of our favorite creatures, such as Cornish Pixies, Bowtruckles, and Nifflers.

Potter-Heads around the world will be donning their favorite house scarves, grabbing their wands and heading outdoors to explore, just like Newt Scamander from Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them.

Will it be a battle between Gryffindor and Slytherin? Or maybe we will see Hufflepuff dominate the world.

Is Harry Potter: Wizards Unite set to be as big as its predecessor Pokémon Go? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
