The Mario Bros. gaming franchise is that of legends. With fans all around the world, it’s no surprise there are talks of a movie. Nintendo and Illumination Entertainment are working through a deal that involves putting these beloved characters in theaters. The Hollywood Reporter recently confirmed these talks.
Illumination Entertainment is lucking out with their animated movies. Despicable Me and Minions have made billions at the box office. Kids and adults alike go crazy for these movies. For Nintendo, the 1993 film Super Mario Bros. has a cult following. Mario and Luigi have been in many games, and on many consoles, so an animated movie should be easy fit for them.
The Super Mario Bros. video game franchise has been around for a long time. Nintendo released the original back in 1985, when the NES was first getting started. The fact that it’s held its popularity for this long is impressive. Mario has been trying to save Princess Peach for about 32 years. I guess it seems Bowser just doesn’t give up!

The characters in the Mario Bros. games are lovable, and distinct. From the Goombas, to Toad, there should be a variety of familiar faces in this upcoming movie. Dealing with this colorful crew and their crazy antics, Yoshi deserves a spot on the big screen. Whatever the movie’s premise may be, I’m sure it’ll be interesting to say the least.
