Marvel is on a roll with all of their TV shows, not just their films on the big screen. The list grows seemingly by the day, and includes Legion and an upcoming X-Men show. One show we are looking forward to in particular is the upcoming Inhumans series. It is set for an IMAX premiere in late summer 2017, before continuing on ABC. Now, local sources have reported the working title!

“Project Next” will begin filming on-location in Hawaii. According to the local Pacific Business News, the studios are developing 3,700 acres of a former naval base as headquarters for filming. This certainly sounds like a long-term effort by Marvel and company. So, I wonder if the facility would be adapted to accommodate future projects as well.

The Inhumans project started out as an MCU film before being slated for TV. Nevertheless, “Project Next” will still get a run in theaters. Even though it will be limited to 2 weeks in IMAX locations, the first two episodes premiering this way is fascinating. It is the first time a joint movie and TV production will be filmed and released this way.

From Marvel’s press release back in November:

“This first-of-its-kind multi-platform production, distribution and marketing agreement brings together Marvel Television’s unique brand of entertainment, ABC’s unparalleled audience and IMAX’s brand and global fanboy demographic,” said IMAX CEO, Rich Gelfond. “It also takes our decades-long relationship with The Walt Disney Company to a whole new level, jointly breaking new ground in the industry. We are confident our exhibition partners will be excited to work with us on this innovative launch of a series across the IMAX network.”

I am excited to see Black Bolt and the Royal Family. So, you can bet I’m waiting for IMAX tickets to go on sale. What about all of you? Are we being over-saturated with Marvel movies and shows, or do we need as much as possible? Let us know in the comments!
