After sneaking the reveal of a Crash Bandicoot remake into Uncharted 4, Naughty Dog, the makers of some of today’s most detailed and human games, are mining their backlogs and bringing back another classic. The pair of would be Sony mascots, Jak and Daxter, are on their way to the PlayStation 4 “later this year,” and they’re bringing the entire Precursor Legacy with them.
The trailer doesn’t reveal much, other than Jak and Daxter’s sweet dance moves that is. The announcement does name the four games from the series that will receive the HD upgrade. That’s right, unlike Crash Bandicoot N’Sane Trilogy, the Jak and Daxter collection will merely be receiving an upgrade as opposed to an overhaul. That’s okay though because the duo happen to star in some gorgeous games that still hold up today. Here are the games that are coming “later this year.”
- Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
- Jak II
- Jak 3
- Jak X: Combat Racing
All four games will be up-rendered to 1080p and include trophies. You will also be able to play these on Vita via Remote Play. Sony is also adding Share Play support to the titles. There is one bit of sad news: Jak X: Combat Racing, the series’ attempt at a Mario Kart clone, won’t have online support. An odd decision seeing as combat racing seems best experienced with other people. Sony does say however that you will still be able to play local splitscreen against your friends, so that’s something.
Sony and Naughty Dog promise more news on the titles closer to release. In the mean time, check out these images of the first game running on the PS4 for the first time.
