James Gunn on DC vs. Marvel Fights Online: CHILL OUT, GUYS!

written by Jordan Cobb October 30, 2017

It is a conflict as old as time itself. From man vs. man, man vs. society, man vs. asking for directions, there always seemed to be this thing about those that prefer DC being very against those who prefer Marvel. Me personally, I subscribe to the thought that I think both are pretty damn cool myself.

Thus when it comes to the more and more prominent success and number of film and TV adaptations from properties on both sides, the divide becomes bigger and bigger. Personally, I’m sick of it. One other such person also done with it? Guardians of the Galaxy writer and director James Gunn.

Gunn has brought up DC Comics and its projects several times across his Facebook page and on his Twitter account and it usually leads to a huge argument of words where people keep discussing Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice as the major example of DC’s shortcomings. Me personally, its good to debate and discuss, but I am on the side of Gunn here in agreeing it can get too far out of hand sometimes. It just doesn’t feel worth it at times.

The fact that Dawn of Justice is still causing such a damn stir online is worth applauding for the dedication of those that defend it, but also to me personally that some people need to accept other’s opinions and move along to something else.

Gunn recently sent out a series of tweets about the subject.

You can love DC, you can love Marvel, and you can even love both, but whenever this discussion comes up online, just be chill and collected about it.

What did you think of Gunn’s comments? Are you DC? Marvel? Both? Who are your favorite characters from each? Let us know in the comments below!
