According to sources, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson(Fast 7, Ballers) and Kevin Hart(Ride Along, Get Hard) are in early talks to star in the upcoming reboot of Jumanji. There appears to be some scheduling issues that need to be worked out before moving forward, but according to Variety, the duo are “moving toward a deal.”
Hart and Johnson will be starring together in the upcoming film, Central Intelligence and hosted the MTV Movie Awards together. They have also shown great comedic chemistry together, posting videos on social media during production of Central Intelligence. Both actors have a very busy schedule with other upcoming projects, which is why nothing has been solidified for Jumanji, as of yet.
Sony’s reboot of the film is slated for a Summer 2017 release and already has a script written by Scott Rosenberg (ConAir) and Jeff Pinkner (The Amazing Spider-man 2) and will be directed by Jake Kasdan (Bad Teacher, Sex Tape).
The original 1995 film starred late actor Robin Williams and has become a classic family adventure film. The source material for the films is an adventure book by author Chris Van Allsburg.
