Move over Justice League! It’s time to make room for The Batman. In a surprising announcement, Warner Brothers/DC Comics has announced that Justice League 2 will be pushed back to make room for the release of Ben Affleck’s The Batman.
Justice League 2 was originally supposed to be released on June 14th, 2019. The Hollywood Reporter says that the official release date for the film is up in the air now, though. The first film, Justice League, has been wrapped. While Zach Snyder still intends to direct the sequel. He’s going to be taking a break on the DCU to direct the upcoming thriller, The Last Photograph.
We recently saw the trailer for Justice League, and it received pretty positive feedback. Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice was the recipient of mixed reviews, but Affleck’s portrayal of Batman was almost universally well-received.
Justice League is slated to release on November 17th, 2017. Darkseid was rumored to be the main villain in the film, but that doesn’t appear to be true as this is the synopsis that’s been released for the film so far.
Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), the Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) unite to battle the evil Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds).
If you’d like to learn more about the villain, Steppenwolf, feel free to read the Wikipedia page on the villain from Apokolips. He seems like he’s going to be a building block towards a full-fledged war with Darkseid.
