Justice League Dark Revealed as Next DC Comics Animated Film

written by Jordan Cobb June 10, 2016

We won’t have to wait long until we know what the next DC Comics original animated movie will be.

The British Board of Film Classification revealed that one of the bonus features for the upcoming Blu-Ray and DVD release of Batman: The Killing Joke is a “Sneak Peak at Justice League Dark.”

To get everyone up to speed, Justice League Dark was one of the books released during DC’s the New 52 back in 2011. It was a team book that was comprised of DC’s more magical, supernatural, fantastical, and horror based characters. The team had such members as Zatanna, John Constantine, Shade, the Changing Man, Deadman, Swamp Thing, and Madame Xanadu. It’s said to return soon as the book, Dark Universe, but nothing else has been said beyond that.

This is the first bit of news in a while for a Justice League Dark movie of any kind. Guillermo del Toro was in talks back in 2013 to develop and direct a live-action adaptation of the book. Last we heard of the film it is still in development at Warner Bros. but without del Toro’s full involvement, most likely due to the various projects he’s currently attached to.
