When it was announced Orlando Bloom was returning for Dead Men Tell No Tales, the upcoming fifth film in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean series, most certainly the next thought on the minds of fans were if Keira Knightley would return. Playing Will Turner’s bride, Elizabeth, she was a key figure in the first three films from being the adventurous daughter of the Port Royal governor to captain of the Empress and accidental Pirate Lord of the South China Sea. Die-hard fans certainly would want one more swashbuckling adventure featuring the Turners and their best friend, Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp).
Well they could possibly get that since while dead men can tell no tales, that rule doesn’t exactly apply to production workers. Anonymous sources close to the production of the sequel have reported that Knightley has secretly filmed scenes for the film and will appear alongside Depp and Bloom in them. Said sources have described her role as a “small cameo during the end credits”, but it could lead to a bigger role in a sixth film. Disney has not said any official word as to wherever or not Knightley will appear in the movie.
The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is also known for their own end credit scenes, which helped expand upon the world and also setup the next upcoming film.
Should Knightley return, the other two longstanding cast members she’ll be joined by are Geoffrey Rush and Kevin McNally as Hector Barbossa and Joshamee Gibbs respectively. Joining the cast for Captain Jack’s quest after the Trident of Poseidon is Javier Bardem, Kaya Scodelario, and Brenton Thwaites.
