Kevin Smith, fellow geek, filmmaker, comic book writer, author, actor, and podcaster, in unusual fashion, announced on his Facebook account that he had canceled his second comedy special in Glendale, CA, after feeling unwell. The post includes a picture of himself in a hospital bed with a shocked look, tubes and all.
According to the post, following a series of worrying symptoms right after a stand-up show, he was checked into a hospital in Glendale where doctors informed him that he was suffering from a major cardiac event. His LAD artery was 100% blocked (this condition is also known as “the Widow-Maker” as Smith himself says in his FB post) and had he gone through with his second show instead of going to the hospital immediately, we would definitely be talking about him in the past tense.
His near-death experience made him realise that he has lead a full and happy life and were it his time, he would be content with what he achieved so far. Having said that, he goes on to say he would be saddened to not fulfill his future projects, focusing mainly on the Jay and Silent Bob reboot.
