Kingdom Come takes place in a near future world where The Justice League has disbanded after a superhero named Magog rises to power with the support of the public. Superman disappears for ten years, The Green Lantern keeps watch over Earth from a satellite, and Batman remains semi-retired. After Magog tries to bring down Parasite, the majority of America’s Midwest is destroyed and millions lose their lives. After the tragedy, Wonder Woman convinces Superman to regroup The Justice League with both old and new heroes, the exception being Batman who still holds a grudge against Superman for leaving the world and decides to take matters into his own hands.
