Syfy announced Monday it was given the go-ahead to start producing the pilot episode for the new series Krypton, which will serve as a prequel to the Superman timeline as we know it.
The series will tell the story of Superman’s grandfather who’s fighting to reestablish his family’s honor after some kind of public humiliation, thus being shamed and shunned. David S. Goyer (known for Batman Begins, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice) will co-write the pilot episode with Ian Goldberg, and will also take on the head-honcho position of executive producer through Phantom Four, his company.
Colm McCarthy will be in charge of directing said pilot episode and the Krypton series will be produced by Warner Horizon Television. Bill McGoldrick, executive vice president of NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment had stated the following:
“Krypton’ is one of the most iconic stories in the comic book universe. In the talented hands of David S. Goyer and the DC Entertainment/Warner Horizon Television team, this exciting Syfy project will take viewers back to Superman’s home to show how the timeless legend began.”
This series has been long talked about and has been in the works for the passed few years, and now finally will be able to come to light, and Syfy is known to put out quality television shows. Although, time will tell with this new series!
