Looks like the Jurassic World sequel is getting one hell of a mathematician, sorry, chaos-tician along for ride. It was confirmed by Entertainment Weekly that Jeff Goldblum has signed up to star in the follow-up to 2015’s critically acclaimed reentry into the Jurassic franchise. Jurassic World had phenomenal success at the box office and racked up a whopping 1.6 Billion in revenue and was only pipped to the top spot by some new Star Wars movie…
We haven’t seen Ian Malcolm since he travelled to Isla Sorna and San Diego in Jurassic Park: The Lost World way back in 1997 so it’ll be fascinating to see what he’s been doing for the last 20 years and why he’s been brought back into the mix now.
While it never quite hit the heights of its predecessor, The Lost World was never as bad as most critics implied. Admittedly, there were some glaring plot holes, but they were caused by last-minute rewrites and deleted scenes that ended up hurting the final product. Despite having Sam Neil’s Dr. Alan Grant return for the third installment, Jurassic Park III derailed the franchise until it was brought back to life by Colin Trevorrow and stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.
A Monster Calls Director J.A. Bayona will helm the as yet untitled ‘scarier’ JW sequel and Pratt and Howard are both confirmed to return. Now with Goldblum jumping back into the fray, it looks to be heading in the right direction. His own brand of sarcasm and dry wit should work pretty well with the new characters. Pre production started back in February so you can expect a steady flow of information about the movie over the next year.
