The Logan official trailer finally dropped. Comic book movie fans all over the world have been waiting with intense anticipation for Hugh Jackman’s final outing as Wolverine. Now, after a series of cryptic photos on Instagram, and a 7 second teaser released yesterday, we get our first extended look at the upcoming 20th Century Fox and Marvel film.
Watch it now, and don’t forget to breathe:
Talk about INTENSE!
The first thing that hit me was the use of Johnny Cash’s “Hurt”. This truly sets the tone for not only this trailer, but the upcoming film as a whole. Based on this trailer, we can expect the film to be as gritty as it gets, and less of the over-the-top superhero action flick we have all grown accustomed to. It looks to be very much in line with Mark Millar and Steve McNiven’s vision for Old Man Logan.
We’re looking at a dystopian future, where “Mutants (are) gone now,” and Professor Xavier introduces Logan to a young girl who needs his help. It looks like Logan, the Professor, and this mysterious girl are on the run from Reavers through the American wasteland.
Some other notable bits are Steve Merchant as Caliban, Boyd Holdbrook as Donald Pierce, and the young Sienna Novikov as X-23. If you are unfamiliar with Laura Kinney/X-23, DO NOT GOOGLE HER as it will probably spoil this film for you!
What’s your favourite part of this trailer? Is it the brutality? Is it the action sequences? Or is it that we are finally getting to see Old Man Logan on the big screen, played by the actor who has become the definitive Wolverine?
Keep an eye on Don’t Hate the Geek, as more trailers and previews will undoubtedly be dropping, as we ramp up to the movie’s release on March 3, 2017!
