After just two seasons, ABC is cancelling one of its Marvel television shows. According to Hollywood Reporter, the ABC show Agent Carter has been cancelled and will not be returning for season three.  The show follows Peggy Carter, who was introduced to us through Captain America: The First Avenger and is set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).  Peggy, played by Hayley Atwell, is a secret agent working in New York during the 1940’s.

Agent Carter was well received by critics but the show’s ratings are far too low for ABC’s liking.  ABC has had much success with the other MCU television show, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, which has spawned a spin-off show featuring Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood entitled Marvel’s Most Wanted.  Hayley Atwell has already booked a role in upcoming crime drama, Conviction.
