The Oscar winning actress, Brie Larson is reportedly in the early talks to play Marvel’s Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, in the upcoming film. Marvel had no official comments on the subject, though sources told Variety that Larson “is their first choice, and she’s leaning toward playing the part.
In the comics, Carol Danvers is an Air Force pilot who, after an encounter with the alien Kree, ends up with their DNA fusing with her own, giving her superpowers including flight, super strength and energy projection. Carol Danvers has also been known as Binary, Warbird, and most famously Ms. Marvel. She has also been associated with both the Avengers and X-Men. She’s been hailed as “Marvel’s biggest female character” and has been called a “feminist icon” for being a pillar of feminine strength and courage in comics since the Silver Age of comics.
The film, which is set to come out in 2019, is being written by Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman. Kevin Feige will be producing the film. You geeks stay tuned!
