Though seemingly forgotten, there are still plans for an official sequel to Man of Steel, the starting point of the DC Extended Universe. Though right now Henry Cavill will have his hands full with the upcoming Justice League films, but one director has reveal he could be coming on.
Matthew Vaughn was out recently promoting the release of Kingsman: The Golden Circle when he spoke to HeyUGuys about what his next plans after after the film’s release. Vaughn was quoted as saying, “I am planning another Kingsman, I’ve written the treatment and some of the scenes…I don’t know what I’m going to do next but I have had chats about Superman, I love Superman.”
Not the first time however Vaughn has come close to directing the boy in blue. Vaughn and Mark Millar had written a pitch together a couple of years after the release of Superman Returns, as stated by Vaughn back in 2010. He said then, “I think that’s the one thing not to do with Superman, trying to do the serious The Dark Knight version. Superman is about color and fun, or it should be, for me.” Well his version certainly would have been far different.
Vaughn’s no stranger of course to comic book adaptations given the Kingsman films and directing X-Men: First Class and the first Kick-Ass adaptation, while producing others.
