‘Mega Man X’ Finally Returns and Is Getting the Treatment It Deserves!
The action platformer Mega Man X is finally getting an upgrade which leads to this amazing news. Mega Man X is getting the recognition that it deserves. Capcom has released news of the ‘Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 and 2!
First of all, this isn’t your typical Blue Bomber. The story of Mega Man X takes place in the year 21XX. It’s a distant future packed with Reploids Mavericks, which are Reploids lead by Sigma that turned on society and continuously cause harm. This leads to X. He retains all the power of his predecessor and can take on the powers of fallen Mavericks in the same way. Furthermore, he comes equipped with a few other skills that Mega Man doesn’t possess. These include sliding dash, wall jumping, and upgrading his armor. This leads me to my favorite, “The Hadouken”.
What does each ‘Mega Man X Collection’ include?
Collection 1 will include Mega Man X, X2, X3, and X4. That is four games for the price of $19.99.
Collection 2 will feature the continuing Mega Man X5, X6, X7, and X8. This, too, will be priced at $19.99.
So that means you can snag each individually for $19.99. You will also be able to grab both in a retail package on disc for Xbox One and PlayStation. The Nintendo Switch versions come in cartridge form for Mega Man X Collection 1 and a digital download voucher for Mega Man X Collection 2. The bundle is marked for the retail price of $39.99.
Games Mega Man X–X6 are updated for modern consoles. This gives you the option to use advanced CRT filters and smoothing to adjust each game to look crisp on your television.
Not to be left out, Mega Man X7 and X8 are both getting upgrades to their 3D sprites to make them look crisp and more clear.
Additional content for each collection includes the original soundtracks, including extra tracks created just for these Legacy Collections. Each has their own special museum of art, toys, music, keychains, and a plethora of visible Mega Man content and merchandise. You’ll be able to check out nostalgia-driven trailers for each game and The Day of Σ. This is a video originally included with Maverick Hunter X. This shows the story of Sigma’s origin and the rise of the Mavericks leading up to the events of the first game.
‘Mega Man X’ Gets Challenging
The best part is a brand new mode: X Challenge. This appears to be a mode where you take on two powerful Mavericks at one time. As seen below, our hero is taking on Chill Penguin and Frost Walrus. I can’t wait to see the combinations they throw at us in this new Challenge Mode.
When can we get our hands on this you ask? The answer is that the collection will be available July 24, 2018. Is this the treatment that Mega Man deserves? Or, do you think it’s a nostalgia grab relic of the past? Let us know in the comments!
