From one Batman alum to the next, Marvel at first announced Michael Keaton would play Vulture in the MCU. And now, Marvel has cast Michelle Pfeiffer for Ant-Man and the Wasp. Pfeiffer will play Janet Van Dyne, the original Wasp.
The announcement came over the weekend at San Diego Comic Con during Marvel’s Hall H panel. Pfeiffer will join Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly in the sequel. If you remember from the first Ant-Man, Janet was stuck in the Quantum Realm, never to be heard from again. However, Scott Lang traveled to and came back from the Quantum Realm. It looks like Janet Van Dyne will be making her return as well. There is no word on if Pfeiffer will be around for more than one film, but I don’t think Marvel would cast someone like Pfeiffer to only use her for one film.
While the sequel to Ant-Man is still far in the future, this news is still pretty big. And Pfeiffer herself is no stranger to the superhero genre. She played Catwoman alongside fellow MCU vet Michael Keaton. However, the roles are different this time with Keaton a villain in the MCU and Pfeiffer the hero. Although not a possibility, it would be awesome to see the two share the screen again. It will be interesting to see her alongside Michael Douglas’s Hank Pym and the recently announced Lawrence Fishburne as Goliath. The question remains, will they suit up again or will they simply provide support to the new team. Hopefully we will get more information in the months to come.
Sound off, geeks! What do you think about this casting? Let us know in the comments.
