The witty men behind Rifftrax, Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett are coming back to theaters for a live riffing of 1961’s “Mothra.” The Kaijū will be subject to the mercies of the three veteran Riffers who will take on the classic film live in Nashville, Tennessee on August 18th.
Don’t fret if you live somewhere other than “The Volunteer State,” because you too can see this once in a lifetime comedic extravaganza in a theater near you. Best of all, you’ll have two chances to catch this undoubtedly hilarious edition to the Rifftrax catalogue! Once on its original air date of August 18th at 8:00 p.m. ET / 7:00 p.m. CT and again on Tuesday, August 23 at 7:30 p.m. (local time). That’s 2(!) chances to see these geniuses at work thanks to Fathom Events.
“Mothra,” while a classic, is full of B-movie effects, out of sync dubbing, and copious amounts of cheese. All these elements make it ripe for the picking for the guys at Rifftrax, and will make it a treat for fans to see them put their spin on the film.
It’s not too late to get your tickets for “Rifftrax Live: Mothra.” Check here to see if a theater near you is showing it as plenty are for this go around. The one in my area is, and we’re not even a “major” city. So chances are you can still snag a ticket or two for the show on August 18th, or the one on the 23rd. Either way, you’d be remiss if you don’t secure a seat for you butt ASAP.
