The already epic cast for the adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s acclaimed novel, American Gods, just got even better. Gillian Anderson has officially been added to the roster making the highly anticipated release even more desirable.
Anderson is set to play Media, who is a character that is known for being able to change her appearance and is arguable one of the most present of faces within the New Gods. The New Gods are a group of modern-day deities that face off with the Old Gods to see who gains control of American soil.
Media, much to her name, flourishes under the spotlight, constantly garnishing attention from humans while they flounder in worship over all types of media: movies, games, smart phones – all of these new age ‘distractions’ are what feed her and allow her to grow into a formidable force. Media is a trickster, of sorts. She can be found wearing the guise of beloved celebrities, she even became a perverse and over-sexualised Lucille Ball in the book.

The growing cast is outstanding. With Ricky Whittle playing Shadow Moon, Emily Browning as Laura Moon, Bruce Langley as Technical Boy, Yetide Badaki as Bilquis, and many others. You can find the full cast list here, as DHTG previously reported.
American Gods is set to premiere on Starz 2017, the cast and crew are currently filming in Toronto.
So what do you think, Geeks? Are you excited? Gillian Anderson has the acting chops – I can’t wait to see how she pulls Media off. Sound off with your thoughts in the comments below!
