We first broke the news of a new horror choice-based game a few weeks ago that is coming from the brilliant minds behind the acclaimed Life is Strange series. Vampyr, the latest title by Dontnod Entertainment, proves to be an intricate tale of choice and tragedy. With real-time actions, the player must decide if they can come to terms with the monster they have become.
A new set of screens have been released by Focus Home Interactive to give a first look into the game’s protagonist, Doctor Jonathan Reid. A man that has realised that he will never again be human, he has succumbed to the disease that has swept London’s streets like an epidemic – Vampyrism. Now he must make the choice to retain his humanity, the side of him that is a Doctor and has sworn an oath to protect people in sickness and in health, or to give in to his blood thirst and fully evolve into something far darker.
“Players take control of Dr. Jonathan Reid, a newly formed vampyr who is torn between the Hippocratic Oath he swore as a doctor, and the bloodthirsty need to kill due to the monster within.”
The player is given the option to choose who feeds that bloodlust. Will he rid the streets of evil dooers in a very Lestat (Anne Rice) style, or will he give into his basic impulses and drink from any unfortunate soul that crosses his path? That’s up to you.
Much like Life is Strange, the choices mean everything. The smallest action or reaction can have grave consequences. You can learn more about the game as a whole in our featured article here. This title will also be launching on all platforms this gen, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The premiere trailer will be shown at this year’s E3, which we will be covering on-sight here at DHTG.
