Simon Kinberg has confirmed that the next X-Men movie will take place in the glorious 90’s! The Mutant loving movies have definitely kept with the new decade trend. X-Men:First Class was first, taking place in the 1960’s, Days of Future Past was set in the 1970’s, X-Men:Apocalypse (set to hit theaters the 27th of this month) will take place in the 80’s, so it’s only natural this film take place in the 90’s.
Though the decade was confirmed, it’s not yet known if the 90’s themed film will be the next headline film, or The New Mutants film that is in the works by director Josh Boone. We will get you that information as soon as it’s announced.
Having an X-Men movie set in the 90’s is pretty awesome, given the fact that the comic series had a great resurgence in the 90’s after Jim Lee re-imagined many characters into the “gifted children” we know and love today. The 90’s also gave us the great animated series that ran from 1992-1997. If you’re wanting some 90’s nostalgia, you can check out the animated series on Hulu.
