Nightwing Might Soon Be Getting His Own Big Screen Adventure

written by Jordan Cobb February 24, 2017

I’m not really pointing out anything new when I say there have been a lot of Batman films, but what about the other members of the Bat-Family as it were? There are plenty of recognizable and beloved heroes in the Batman mythology and soon, one of them might get their very own film

It’s being reported that director of The LEGO Batman Movie, Chris McKay is in the middle of negotiations right now to direct a Nightwing movie written by Bill Dubuque (The Accountant). Well you can’t say you saw that coming.

Dick Grayson was the first ever sidekick to Batman as Robin when he debuted back in 1940’s Detective Comics #38 and soon went on to his own career in crimefighting, eventually becoming the leader of the Teen Titans. His transition into Nightwing came about in 1984 during Marv Wolfman and George PĂ©rez’s time on the Teen Titans books. Already a recognizable character as Robin, Dick Grayson soon became even more popular as Nightwing with several different solo series of his very own.

Now its all just hearsay about this right now, its still being talked about and we haven’t seen any of the Robins in the current DCEU aside from a graffiti-covered suit hung up in the Batcave from Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, but that is most likely Jason Todd, the second Robin and later Red Hood. For all we know, this might not connect to the overall picture there, or maybe it could.

I’m sure many Nightwing fans have been wondering why he never has had his very own movie. There is plenty of history, stories, and characters around the hero that could suffice for its very own feature film and who knows what’s taken Warner Bros. so long to see that. Well you can certainly read up on many Nightwing’s adventures right here!

What do you think of the news? Would you want a Nightwing film? If so, who should play him? Let us know in the comments below!
