Rumors of a new Nintendo console have been running around for a while now but today Nintendo put an end to the speculation by giving the world a release date. Over on their twitter account they announced that the next generation of Nintendo will be released.

We know very little about the console right now but President Tatsumi Kmishima has assured people in the past by saying the following:
“As far as NX goes, I’ve said it’s different and obviously a new experience. That being said, I can assure you we’re not building the next version of Wii or Wii U. It’s something unique and different. It’s something where we have to move away from those platforms in order to make it something that will appeal to our consumer base.”
Time will tell.
At the same time Nintendo announced the release date of the NX they also announced that Zelda U, the next in it’s long standing Legend of Zelda series, would be delayed again.

This is not the first time that the much anticipated game has been delayed, but with announcement of the new console we are pretty certain that it will not be pushed back again. Using Legend of a Zelda as a launch title might give the NX a big boost in sales when it’s released next year.
