1984, the dystopian novel by George Orwell, is to have another film adaptation. Paul Greengrass has been selected as director. His past films have been The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, and Captain Philips.
This will be the 3rd film adaptation of the novel. There is a 1956 version and a film in 1984 starring John Hurt and Richard Burton.
The novel is known for creating its own concepts and terms such as “doublethink” and “thoughtcrime” and one such concept, which is heavily used today to refer to the government’s watchful eye, “big brother.”
With dystopian/apocalyptic movies and shows growing in popularity, it will be interesting to see how this adaptation will be.
