I have to admit, I’ve never played Overwatch. Not because I think it looks dumb or bad, quite the contrary. Through various “let’s plays,” the animated shorts and parodies, and even at a friends house, I have seen the game and it looks like a lot of fun. Thing is, while I see other people having fun with it, I don’t know if it’s for me. I can’t tell if Overwatch is something I’ll get a ton of mileage out of, or a game with which I am bored of in a few hours.
Well, gamers like me and other procrastinators will be able to sample Blizzard’s frenetic FPS during a free weekend. Set to run November 18-21, the Overwatch free weekend will include 22 heroes and 13 maps. You will be able to play all the modes available including the Weekly Brawl. Any progress made during the weekend will carry over should you decide to buy the full game. However, Trophies and Achievements will be disable during the free period.
Observant gamers will note, the addition of Sombra should bring Overwatch‘s roster up to 23. This announcement would seem to imply that Sombra will not be out before November 21st. Bad news for those eagerly awaiting her official debut.
The Overwatch free weekend will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. You must have a PlayStation Plus, Xbox Live, or Battle.net account to participate.
Will you geeks be giving Overwatch a go Nov. 18-21? If you’re already playing, and your friends haven’t jumped in yet, this would be the perfect time to get them on board. I know I’m excited to finally give Overwatch a try. Let us know in the comments if we can expect to see any of you during the weekend.
