The tweet, above, shows Howard and Bettany on the set of the spinoff film. There is no word on who Bettany will play, but I’m sure there will be plenty of speculation. This news comes days after Michael K. Williams left the film due to a scheduling conflict. While Williams had his scenes pretty much in the bag, reshoots happened and he was unable to commit. Those upset about Williams’s departure should be happy about the addition of Bettany. And of course, Ron Howard took over directing duties after the firing of Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.
This is the third time Howard and Bettany have worked together. The two previously worked together on A Beautiful Mind and The Da Vinci Code. Although he has been around for a while, most fans will recognize Bettany as Vision in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And though he has been behind the camera in the later part of his career, some older fans will recognize Ron Howard from The Andy Griffith Show and Happy Days. Both Howard and Bettany are veterans in the film industry, so having both of them on a Star Wars film should bring relief to fans all over.
Sound off, geeks! What are your thoughts about Paul Bettany in the Han Solo film? Do you think it was a good choice? Let us know in the comments.
