E3 revealed Persona 5 gameplay this Tuesday! The last Persona game came out in 2008 with a golden edition being released on Vita in 2012. We have been highly anticipating another amazing episode of this series.
The gameplay trailer itself is in Japanese, however, we can tell that Persona 5 will hold the charm and style of previous Persona games, including the multiple choices as well as some amazing character designs and Personas. We also know that the theme of this new Persona is set.
“The main theme of Persona 5 will be slavery – whether it be in the form of slavery to countries, government, authority figures, rules and laws, societal expectations, money, bills, debt, school, jobs, etc. Persona 5 will discuss the hardships of modern-day 21st century society and feature characters that are restrained by the rules set by this society, especially in Japan where the game is set.” -Atlus
The (unnamed, as per usual Persona) protagonist looks like your normal Japanese male school boy anime character. Black hair, glasses, and a kind of cool attitude. His Persona? Is a legendary thief known as Arséne. Our protagonist befriends a blonde delinquent boy named Ryuji Sakamoto–who has as his Persona Captain Kidd, a pirate, a long blonde withdrawn girl named Anne Takamaki–her Persona is Carmen, a femme fatale from a book written in 1845, and a talking cat named Morgana–with the Persona Zorro, the legendary masked man. We know Persona 5 will be set in Tokyo, we also know that our protagonist can get a job, go to school, as well as break social norms if you so desire, which is a crucial part in Persona 5’s theme of Slavery.
The release date for Persona 5 is set in America on February 14th, 2017 on the PS4. Are you excited for this new exciting chapter in Persona? Let us know in the comments!
