It’s been 14 years since The Incredibles came out and mostly what has been released is teasers and clips for the sequel. Finally, the newest trailer for Incredibles 2 is here to give everyone a taste of the story and a new villain.
When the original came out, I couldn’t even grow a whisker. Now, I can’t stop growing hair everywhere. Like a cold glass of beer, the youth who are now adults from my generation have been telling kids, “This isn’t for you. This is for us.”
Disney had to make sure your kids had kids before this next movie came out. The mouse wants all of those seats filled. Another thing they made sure of was that director Brad Bird (Iron Giant) would return to write and direct Incredibles 2 as he did with the first film.
The story here is that Elastigirl is chosen as the poster girl to bring supers back into the limelight. Meanwhile, Mr. Incredible is at home taking care of the kids and the tiring Jack-Jack with his myriad of powers. Have you ever tried to change the diaper of a baby who can shoot lasers and explode into fire?
Previously released clips dance around the plot, which is finally is revealed here. There is a larger threat at work. The Screen Slaver appears to have control over technology whether it be through hacking or having actual powers. Take a look at the trailer below.
Theories on the New Villain
This new baddie could be a red herring to throw everyone off. Pixar has been keeping their cards close and purposely giving out very little info in these trailers.
Could Syndrome be alive and using a new alias to get his revenge on the family still? This new antagonist wears a mask and hides his voice, so it is possible. Yes, Syndrome was cut into tiny pieces and was in the middle of an explosion, but he’s a super-villain. They are more durable than an old-school Nokia.
Whatever the identity of this new villain is, their plan only spells trouble for the city and The Incredibles. Incredibles 2 busts into theaters June 15, 2018, and the only thing left to do is find where we left our super suits for the premiere.
