The numbers don’t lie and man what numbers these are as Sony’s PlayStation Network alone helped make them more profit than the entire company of Nintendo. Yes, you read that right, the Playstation Network is officially outselling Nintendo.
Video game industry analyst ZhugeEX has got the numbers to prove them by reporting that the PSN generating $4.8 billion over Nintendo’s $4.6 billion. Sure might not seem like much of a difference but it is a huge surprise given that a singular digital entertainment network overtook the entirety of arguably the most well known video game brand and company.
The news of defeat isn’t that surprising given that Nintendo hasn’t really made a big splash yet in 2016 and the NX console not due until 2017. Speaking of consoles: Sony’s PlayStation 4 also outsold the Wii U as well with PS4 selling 40 million to Wii U’s 12.8 million. Profits for Nintendo did also drop 61 percent recently.
Whatever Sony seems to be doing with the PlayStation Network is absolutely working for them right now and Nintendo might need to step its game up.
Meanwhile the guys over at Xbox have been revealing recent sales as well as some new redesigns but is still estimated as only pushing 20 million units currently. Half of what PlayStation is pulling, yet still ahead of Nintendo.
This certainly has been an interesting development. How do you feel about this news? Let us know in the comments below.
