We have shown you the pictures and video of Pokémon Go before. However, now we have bigger news! Niantic is making the 2014 Google prank a reality with the blessing of Nintendo. Niantic will release Pokémon Go later this year with no real set release date and is currently in the beta testing stage.
When Pokémon Go releases there will only be 100 Pokémon from the original Red and Blue games with more coming on later dates. Nintendo is also creating a bracelet for the app called Pokémon Go Plus, which will alert you whenever you capture a Pokémon.
Niantic and Nintendo were hoping to create something like Google Glass in order to expand Pokémon Go into a more 3D immersive game.
This game will be true to Augmented Reality and overlay your Pokémon onto areas of your town. Maybe you get to go to your local park for ground types, or at a beach to find water types, or even a desert to find fire types. The possibilities are endless. There are also rumors that certain Pokémon will only be available in certain areas. Like Kangaskhan may only be available in Australia as it is a kangaroo-based Pokémon. Maybe Pancham—a panda-based Pokémon—will only be available in China. Meaning if you want them, you will have to travel to those countries.
Pokémon Go will open doors for Augmented Reality Technology to grow and expand. Nintendo has already experimented with Augmented Reality in the past with their AR cards that came with the Nintendo 3DS and make it seem as though you were holding Mario, as well as the game Spirit Camera or Fatal Frame as many people know. We know that Nintendo can make this game an amazing reality. With Nintendo working with Niantic Pokémon Go will go far.
There are also hints that you can choose the way you play your game. You can collect Pokémon and not worry about anything except capturing and training them or you can go and find Gym Leaders and fight them. Making Pokémon Go a real life Pokémon game, maybe you will even get Gym Badges each time you defeat a leader.
Do you gotta catch them all? Are you going to be the very best? Let us know what you think in the comments.
