Possible Fast and Furious spin off featuring The Rock, Jason Statham

written by Alex Lopez April 22, 2017

Just over a week after its release, The Fate of the Furious is dominating the box office. There are tons of explosions and car chases to satisfy every Fast and Furious fan. Some of the best moments in the movie involve Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s character Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw. These two have some of the best chemistry in the movie. In fact, it seems the chemistry was so good that producers are looking into a possible spin off featuring both characters.

Originally, there was an end credits scene featuring Hobbs and Shaw that set up the spin off. The scene, however, did not make it to the final cut. Reports suggest the rumored feud between Johnson and series star Vin Diesel led to the removal of the scene. The feud seems to be over and despite the missing scene, the chemistry between the two stars was enough to convince producers to look into a spin off.

The idea for the spin off is to have both Hobbs and Shaw form a unlikely alliance, but nothing more has been said. Both characters started off as enemies of the series main characters. Johnson’s Hobbs made his debut in Fast Five. Shaw, on the other hand, made his debut in an end credits scene of the sixth installment. He then became the main villain in Furious 7. Teaming these two together would definitely light up the screen.

Franchise writer Chris Morgan is supposedly set to write the spin off film. The plan is to end the series with the tenth film, but it seems like Universal wants to continue the universe. Production on the spin off may even start before plans are ready for the next Fast film. Hopefully we will have more information in the near future. Until then, go check out The Fate of the Furious and let us know what you think.

What do you think, geeks? Does a spin off film sound interesting to you? Sound off in the comments.
