Premiere of Star Trek: Discovery Delayed, James Frain Casted as Spock’s Father

When Star Trek: Discovery was first announced, I was certainly excited for a brand new Trek TV show and after watching Star Trek Beyond, yet again, I got even more excited as I’m sure many other Trekkies did.

Well we’re gonna need to wait just a little bit longer for Discovery.

Originally planned to premiere in May, CBS has delayed the debut of Star Trek: Discovery and its unknown as of right now when Discovery will come out.

A statement was sent out by CBS All Access, the TV network’s subscription streaming, saying, “Production on Star Trek: Discovery begins next week. We love the cast, the scripts and are excited about the world the producers have created. This is an ambitious project; we will be flexible on a launch date if it’s best for the show. We’ve said from the beginning it’s more important to do this right than to do it fast. There is also added flexibility presenting on CBS All Access, which isn’t beholden to seasonal premieres or launch windows.”

Well speaking of the cast, James Frain from Orphan Black and True Blood has been cast as Spock’s father, Sarek. The extend of Sarek’s role on the series itself is also unknown, but we do know he is the one familiar character in Trek history that will appear on the new series. Sarek has made several appearances throughout the many incarnations of Star Trek ever since first appearing in season two of the original series.

What’s your reaction to the casting and delay? Are you excited for Discovery? Let us know in the comments below!
