As the release to Resident Evil 7 draws nearer, Capcom is starting to give us previews that actually have some weight. In the final series of videos released we see an enemy that isn’t human emerging from the murky darkness and attacking the player. We also get a glimpse of a creepy old lady, Aunt Rhody, in a wheel chair.
Though short, this first preview finally gives us a look at one of the enemies in the game that isn’t a human. Maybe it was at one point, but now it is anything but. Emerging from the shadows, the hulking beast lumbers toward our protagonist. He shoots frantically at the monster, but the bullets have little effect and the creature’s pursuit ensues.
It’s hard to tell exactly what this thing is given the lack of light in that dank cave. It isn’t your typical zombie, and speaks to how different Capcom wants to make Resident Evil 7.
The following video finally shows us the Aunt Rhody those kids were singing about in an earlier teaser for Resident Evil 7. You can hear the song playing in the background as we make our ascent up the creaky stairs. Tentatively, we approach the silver haired woman sat in a wheel chair. She cranes her neck, reveals a toothy grin, and the video cuts.
If you stuck around to the end of this one Capcom let us know that this is not the last we’ve seen of Resident Evil 7. Tape – 3 “Resident Evil” will be premiered in “early December.” The tape may reveal exactly how Resident Evil 7 fits into the RE universe. This may be a card Capcom wishes to keep close to their chest, so it may be about something else altogether. We’ll just have to wait a few weeks to find out more.
Geeks, what do you think of the most recent look at Resident Evil 7? When it was first shown it looked like it would be just taking a tour through a haunted house. Now, with this series of videos, it’s turning into what looks like an actual RE game. Resident Evil 7 will be out January 24th for PS4 and Xbox One.
