The Instagram account of cartoonbrew recently released the new promotional art for the reboot of the well known Cartoon Network series Samurai Jack by the great Genndy Tartakovsky from the 2016 Annecy festival. Tartakovsky is known for taking over the 90’s with his animated works such as The Powerpuff Girls and Dexter’s Laboratory.

This upcoming reboot Samurai Jack will be a bit darker according to Tartakovsky, taking place 50 years after the conclusion of season 4 and will have a more adult tone.

Samurai Jack

The original show premiered in 2001 and followed a samurai who had skipped through time on a quest to defeat the villainous demon shape shifter by the name of Aku who annilhated the kingdom of Jack’s father. The brilliantly designed show was unfortunately cancelled in 2004 by Cartoon Network.

Reports from the Annecy festival states that the 10-episode show will run a total of five hours to complete the telling of our childhood favorite animated Samurai!
