I don’t know about you, but from the first whisper of infinity stones in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I have been fangirling hard for the Magnus opus that is Avengers: Infinity War. I mean honestly, what could possibly warm my geeky heart quicker than an epic cumulation of superheroes coming together in the ultimate struggle against what is arguably one of the most dangerous supervillains of all time?
While we all had an inkling that there would be a Guardians of the Galaxy/Avengers cross-over, this teaser video showing the first day of production on the set of Infinity War in Atlanta- which Robert Downey Jr. showed us through Facebook– gives us confirmation of this and so much more. So. Much. More.
Watch and feel amazed:
Downey, Chris Pratt, Tom Holland, the writers, and directors lay out everything in amazing detail, while still remaining vague enough to have us begging for more. I mean, did you see Tony Stark’s new suits???
The concept art is gorgeous, the landscape beautiful in its bleakness, and those images of Rocket Raccoon and Thor are simply badass, there’s no other word for it.
Thanos looks as evil as ever, and completely capable of destroying anything in his path.
It’s obvious that the arrival of Thanos is perfectly timed in the cinematic world. The Avengers, being weak and divided, will need help from every corner of the Marvel Universe, and from the teasers in this video, it seems they’ll have it. With the haunting last imagery of Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet seared in to our brains though, one can’t help wonder if that will be enough.
While production is finally beginning, we still have a long way to go until the release date, scheduled in May 2018. From the looks of this teaser, it very well should be worth the wait, and we here at Don’t Hate the Geek will keep you informed of all updates. After all, this is the cumulation of a decade’s worth of movies and storylines- we don’t want this rushed.
